Join Our Team as a Part-Time Ferry Captain on Dewees Island!

Dewees Island is seeking a local part-time licensed U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain to operate our private ferry, which runs regularly between Isle of Palms and Dewees Island and transports residents and guests. What You’ll Do:

• Safely pilot the ferry in compliance with US Coast Guard regulations.

• Perform daily engine and equipment checks, ensuring vessels are in top condition.

• Maintain accurate ship logs for trips, fuel, service, and more.

• Train deckhands in emergency procedures, line handling, docking, and passenger safety.

• Oversee ferry cleanliness, security, and passenger authorization.

• Provide excellent customer service with a friendly and professional demeanor.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid US Coast Guard Master Captain’s license.

• At least one year, preferably two, of vessel experience, including handling lines and maintenance.

• CPR and first aid certification.

• Strong knowledge of Coast Guard regulations, boating safety, and emergency response.

• Physical ability to perform maintenance, handle emergencies, and swim.

• A positive attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.

• This position requires a local candidate, as relocation is not an option.

Schedule:

• Weekly rotation with morning shifts (Wednesday–Sunday) and evening shifts (Thursday–Sunday), including weekends and holidays.
