Ferry Captain (Part-Time)
Location: Dewees Island, South Carolina
Dewees Island is a privately owned barrier island with a conservation focus and a tight-knit residential community. Our ferry is the island’s lifeline, and we are looking for a reliable, licensed Captain to join our team.

As the Captain of our Dewees Island ferry, you'll spend your days navigating beautiful waterways, connecting people to a one-of-a-kind island community, and working with a small, dedicated team that truly values nature, reliability, and good humor. Every day is different, and every crossing counts.
Job Summary:
Safely transport property owners, guests, and staff to and from the island. Maintain vessel readiness, ensure compliance with USCG regulations, and provide outstanding customer service.
This position requires the ability to meet all medical, physical, and licensing standards set by the U.S. Coast Guard for vessel operators. Candidates must be able to safely operate the vessel, respond to emergencies, and perform all essential physical functions without accommodation.
Requirements:
Valid USCG Captain’s License appropriate to vessel size
Valid driver’s license
CPR and First Aid certification
Ability to perform physical tasks and swim in emergency situations
Working knowledge of Coast Guard rules and basic vessel maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience operating passenger vessels
Strong communication and leadership skills
Additional Information:
Part-time, hourly position
Weekend and holiday availability may be required
Uniform provided
